The delivery of the driver’s licences to the address indicated by the customer, the new service of State Enterprise Regitra launched on 1 July this year, is becoming more and more popular.182 Lithuanian customers (inhabitants (of Lithuania), mainly from the City of Vilnius, Raseiniai, Plungė and Ukmergė regions had enjoyed the service by 15 September. The number of those inquiring about the service is steadily growing.
„It is beneficent for the customers to order a driver’s licence together with its delivery service, as this allows to save the time and costs of the journey to a Regitra affiliates. This is important not only to the dwellers of the cities, but also for those living far away from urban areas” says Saulius Šuminas, Deputy Director General of Regitra.
In order to request for the above service, it is necessary to visit internet site regitra.lt and, opening Driver’s Portal, to indicate the address to which the driver’s licence is to be delivered. The licences are delivered only within Lithuania. At the moment the service is being rendered only to the drivers, who are exchanging the expiring beginner driver’s licence by the one with the validity of 10 years.
The new driver’s licence is delivered to the address indicated by a customer approximately within 3 working days (the licences are delivered by the staff of AB Lietuvos Paštas). The customers, ordering a licence via Driver’s Portal may also get hold of it at an affiliate of Regitra, if they are not willing to make use of the delivery service.
More than 1.6 thousand of Lithuanian customers had ordered driver’s licences (with and without the delivery service) via opening Driver’s Portal from 1 July to 15 September 2010. This electronic service of Regitra was mostly used by the inhabitants of the Cities of Vilnius (292 orders), Kaunas (183) and Klaipėda (94).
The driver’s licence with the validity of 10 years may be ordered 30 days before the expiry of the validity of the beginner driver’s licence.
