The share of means of transport registered in Lithuania increased by 6.1 %
During the first six months of this year the state enterprise REGITRA registered 88 335 motor vehicles imported to Lithuania which is by 6.1% more than during the same period last year.
The fleet of road transport of Lithuania increased by 6 150 new and 82 185 used (i.e. previously registered abroad) vehicles.
Compared with the same period of 2009, the share of used vehicles registered this year is larger by 10.9% and of new vehicles has reduced by 22.9%.
The bulk (80%) of the total quantity of vehicles imported to and registered in Lithuania comprised used cars (class M1). The number of cars registered until 1 July this year totals 70 757, with largest quantities imported from Germany (37%, 26 380 units), Italy (16%, 11 290 units) and France (15%, 10 687 units).
Likewise during two previous years, the used cars of “Volkswagen Passat” model have remained among the most popular cars registered in the country for the first time (5 665 units), followed by “Volkswagen Golf” (3 253 units) and “Opel Astra” (3 216 units).
“Peugeot 3008“, “Renault Megane” and “Nissan Qashqai” account for the largest quantities of cars of new models registered this year (247, 208 and 174 units, respectively).
