The right to ride a motorbike is granted from the age of 15 years
The state enterpriseRegitra reminds that the right to ride motorbikes and light four-wheeled motorcycles (AM category vehicles) may be granted to individuals no younger than 15 years of age.
The driver’s licence for AM category vehicles is issued atRegitra Examination Centre to individuals who pass a theory test (taking a practice examination is not required).
Registration for the theory test is possible on VĮ Regitra internet website. Upon registration the individual is free to choose the preferred Examination Centre and the examination time.
Individuals may prepare for this examination individually (the individual also has the right to attend the training course at the driving school at own discretion).
Before going in for the examination the individual who is going to ride a motorbike or light four-wheeled motorcycle must submit the passport or personal identity card and a valid medical certificate testifying to the driver’s health examination and a certificate of completion of the compulsory first-aid training programme training course.
Please, be advised, that a person holding a driver’s license for the operation of other motor vehicles also qualifies for riding a motorbike.
As from 1 September 2008, the documents issued by driving schools to motorbike drivers testifying to the individuals’ knowledge of the road traffic regulations are no longer valid. Motorbikes drivers are required to to have the driver’s license.
On 1 January 2010, 15 050 motorbikes were registered in Lithuania.
