State Enterprise Regitra is going to offer new on-line motor vehicle registration services

With a view to improving the provision of public services the State Enterprise Regitra is planning to transfer the major part of services related with the activities of registration of motor vehicles to the electronic environment. This will improve the availability of services to users, save time of residents and businesses and reduce costs.

New electronic services will be provided after implementation of the project “Transferring motor vehicleregistration services to electronic environment” supported by the EU.

“In end-2012 Regitra will start providing electronic services of registration and deregistration of motor vehicles, changingtheir data and registration certificates, ordering and changing state vehicle number plates, providing data and other services related with the activities of registration of motor vehicles”, – said Bronislovas Birbalas, Project Manager and Deputy Head of Regitra IS Division.

The new information system developed in the Enterprise will facilitate data exchanges both with state registers of Lithuania and with EUCARIS and Schengen II international systems.

After implementation of the project natural and legal persons who use vehicle registration services will not have to visit the branch of Regitra. They will be able to order and pay for the services electronically.

Motor vehicle identification service will be provided at the place requested by the applicant. The state number plates and registration certificates will be delivered to the address requested by the applicant.

The State Enterprise Regitra, taking into consideration the needs of users, is continuously improving the provision of public services.

For convenience of residents the Enterprise has developed the system of free registration for examinations and Drivers’ portal for drivers. The public e-service “Motor vehicle Search” offered by Regitra already since 2005 enables the drivers to obtain data from the Register of Road Motor Vehicles about all road motor vehicles registered in Lithuania. Also, the Enterprise offers the possibility to check details of driver’s licenses issued in Lithuania.
