With the entry into force of Law on Road Traffic Safety of the Republic of Lithuania, the State Enterprise Regitra (hereinafter referred to as VĮ Regitra) announces that the procedure for suspending permission of a vehicle to participate in traffic (hereinafter referred to as permission) will be effective as of 1 July 2014.
Permission will be suspended upon establishing that a vehicle has not passed a compulsory roadworthiness test or has not been covered by compulsory motor third party liability insurance. The data will be obtained from particular information systems.
The applicants will be able to check if their vehicle has permission to participate in traffic by logging onto the e-service portal of VĮ Regitra or VĮ Regitra website regitra.lt (section “Check of vehicle registration”).
According to Law on Road Traffic Safety, the reasons for which permission for a vehicle to participate in traffic has been suspended must be addressed in 90 days. Otherwise, the permission will be annulled and the vehicle’s registration will be cancelled. The registration plates will have to be returned to VĮ Regitra. For the vehicle to be able to participate in traffic again, it will have to be registered in accordance with the established procedure.
