Export of vehicles

To export a vehicle registered in Lithuania, it is necessary to apply to the State Enterprise Regitra for the issue of temporary number plates which are valid for a period of 90 days.
 
Where a vehicle has been de-registered or vehicle registration certificate is of an older version and thus lacks some registration data (e.g., engine number), an identification inspection of the vehicle must be completed prior to re-registration of the vehicle. Identification of a vehicle may be carried out at any time on applicant’s request.

Where vehicle’s identification inspection is not required according to registration rules, the applicant is required to confirm by signing that vehicle’s data have not changed and are in conformity to the data indicated on the vehicle registration certificate.

The following documents must be submitted for the issue of temporary number plates:
1. Application (to be filled by REGITRA officer).
2. Personal ID document of the person submitting documents for temporary number plates.
3. Representation documents (where the documents are submitted by a representative of vehicle owner).
4. Vehicle registration certificate.
5. Document evidencing acquisition of the vehicle.
6. Obligatory Motor Third Party Liability insurance policy.
7. Earlier issued state number plates (if possessed).

In addition, where a vehicle has been issued the number plates of termless validity and the vehicle has not been de-registered, vehicle re-registration requires participation of the vehicle owner in person or submission of a power-of-attorney.

If you are not intending to use your vehicle in public traffic, you have to apply to the State Enterprise Regitra for de-registration of the vehicle. The following documents must be submitted:
1. Application (to be filled by REGITRA officer).
2. Personal ID document of the person submitting documents.
3. Representation documents (where the documents are submitted by a representative of vehicle owner).
4. Vehicle registration certificate.
5. Earlier issued state number plates (if possessed).
